Enhancing Publishing Platforms: Entities Extraction for Open Access Monographs

Date and Time: Monday, 05.03.2018, 14:00 – 15:00 (CET) (Click here to register)

DESCRIPTION

The webinar is dedicated to one of the services integrated by HIRMEOS on the five platforms involved in the project: the Named Entity Recognition and Disambiguation (NERD) service, the so called entity-fishing. This tool allows to identify and extract entities (not only Named Entities such as names of persons, places and organizations, etc) within a text or PDF documents and match them to their “real” representation in Wikipedia and Wikidata.

The speakers will give a short overview of the activities of the HIRMEOS project and a detailed description of entity-fishing. Finally, some concrete use cases concerning the implementation of NERD services on the project platforms, especially Göttingen University Press and OpenEdition, will be presented.

Speakers: Luca Foppiano (INRIA); Arnaud Gingold (OpenEdition); Marianna Mühlhölzer (Göttingen State and University Library)

Chairman: Andrea Bertino (Göttingen State and University Library)
